Scottish Terrier Pedigree Search

Introduction
This pedigree search tool is provided as a courtesy of the STCA, and is based on the work of Mary O'Neal.

It only takes a few simple steps to create a custom Scottish Terrier pedigree using this on-line search tool.

Notice to Netscape Users:
If you are using Netscape, you may experience difficulty displaying the list if pedigrees resulting from a Search of the database.  The list will typically appear as a series of square, box characters instead of text.  Although this is a known problem with Netscape 4.7 we do not have a fix and can only suggest that users try another web browser.

Special Congratulations:
We should all extend a special Thank You and Congratulations to Mary O'Neal for her work on this project.  With the September 2007 update, Mary passed the 100,000 records point.  And she continues to expand the database by including approximately 2,000 new records with each update.
Thank You.  Check the note below to see how many records are in this latest update.

Please [click here] for a short explanation of the two Pedigree Search options and a couple of suggestions for how to locate your dog's pedigree.

Enter the number of generations you will want displayed in the pedigree.
For most computer printers printing in Landscape mode, 5 generations is the best choice.
Enter the name, or partial name, of the Scottish Terrier to search for.
(We've recently upgraded the site to support both fast and slow search options, so please read the following information carefully to understand the syntax for entering search names.)
  • If you use fast search, (to use this option, change the default option in step 4 below) you must provide a full word (not a partial word) for matches to show up. For example, entering "Mary" will find all Scottish Terriers whose names contain the word "Mary" but would not find those whose names contain "Maryscot" or "Maryscots".
For more successful searches, please use a word with at least 4 letters.  Common kennel names with words that will return over 100 records have been excluded from the Fast Search database.
  • If you use slow search, (this is the default option below) entering "Maryscot" will find all Scottish Terriers whose names contain the letters "Maryscot". This will also find any with "Maryscots".
Slow search is more thorough and accurate, but does take longer to execute.

  • For this search, we've already selected the Scottish Terrier database.
The Scottish Terrier database contains over 126,000 entries.
    Last updated 15 Aug 10.
Select either the Fast or Slow search option that best matches your search name choice.
(As noted above, the site now supports the fast search option.)
    SPECIAL NOTICE:
The FAST search option has a 200 dog limit on the number of records that will be returned. So if your search approaches this number please use another whole word or try the SLOW search option to view all of the records.

Perform fast search by a single full word.
Perform slow search by partial word, full word, or multiple words.

Please [click here] for a short explanation of the two Pedigree Search options and a couple of suggestions for how to locate your dog's pedigree.

    ADDITIONAL NOTICE:
When using FAST searches, delete the 's and search on the main word only.  Please use a SLOW search if you want to limit the search.

You're almost finished. So click on the "Search Now" button to search the database for a list of pedigrees.

The Scottish Terrier Pedigree database is quite large, so do not be alarmed if it takes a minute or so for the list of pedigrees matching your search criteria to appear.
