The Standard Review Committee composed of long-term breeders and judges has met via conference call.
The new committee has reviewed in detail all materials and comments previously submitted via mail, from judges and through the website. Some of the written and submitted comments indicated the need for additional information and education.
The first issue addressed is the specific process required by STCA and the American Kennel Club for Standard Review. The committee is working with the Board of Directors and the AKC to develop a graphic representation of the AKC mandated process. The primary purpose it to share the process with the membership.
The committee will explore a number of alternates in communication to the membership including printed and electronic media. The process will be slow and deliberate. A graphical copy of the required process "Guidelines for Writing Breed Standards - Flowchart" is shown to the right and below. (Click to enlarge)
The membership will be kept informed of further developments,
Changes cannot occur unless it is decided upon by a balloted vote of the membership.
