Minutes Standard Review Committee- Conference Call- 6/30/2014
Merle Taylor called the meeting to order at 7:06 pm EDT
All members present (Merle Taylor, Kathi Brown, Darle Heck, Tom Hossfeld, Kathy Ferris and Charla Hill as Board Liaison)
Merle welcomed everyone and asked for any feedback we could share since the last meeting.
Tom Hossfeld discussed his Proportion Demo Device at GWTC. He found people were very interested and eager after judging. Many were amazed at seeing the internal square and even with the largest dogs that they thought were longer turned out to have an internal square. Various individual discussions resulted.
Kathi Brown agreed that we need to continue to work on developing the understanding of proportionality in our breed and why this would show the need to move off a specific measurement to a ratio description.
Discussion was held on how best to explain proportionality. Could we possibly use something similar to what the Staffordshire Bull Terrier used online with multiple lines showing the various ratios of the body. How can we get this across and might we utilize the historical publications of the STCA and as they relate to this topic.
Discussion on where we are in the process. Where the previous committee left off. Where we proceed. How we talk to or take it to the membership. When do we make a decision?
Merle asked that we all come prepared for the next meeting.
All shall review the standard as it exists to see if any points other including the past committee's need revision or not.
Are there any new points and if so what is the suggestion.
Do we as a committee think there needs to be any new wording of the previous committee's proposal?
Be prepared to take each suggestion point by point. Plan to come to a consensus on what we will agree on as a committee and prepare to go forward.
Next meeting to be Monday July 21, at 7 pm
