I have always been in love with Scottish Terriers. I started showing Scottish Terriers in 1975. Through the years, I have put titles on dozens of Scottish Terriers in the U.S. and in Canada. In the 1980s, I was so addicted to showing dogs that I competed 40 weekends a year.
In addition to breeding under the kennel prefixes Ayr and Menteith, I, along with my wife at the time, bred numerous Scotties. To enrich our line, I also imported several Scottish
Terriers. My favorite Scottiewas English, American and Canadian Ch.Scarista Rocky. We imported him early in our ' Scottie journey'.He was a silver brindle and was the love and joy of my life.
There are so many memories including his breed win at Crufts. I also remember fondly, Rocky’s win at the Canadian Scottish Terrier Club 25th annual specialty under noted breeder judge Dr. T. Alan Kirk, MD. Rocky was awarded Best of Breed, his son, Ch Rox at Scarista was Best of Winners and his grand-daughter was Best of Opposite Sex from the puppy class.Three generations in the ribbons. What a day that was!
Rocky loved the smell of Mentos candy mints. They reminded him of his prior owner and breeder, Jim Faulkner, who always had a pocket full of them. Rocky was the love of my kennel and I still think of him as my son.Rocky did not achieve the success in the states as we had hoped due to many issues not related to his breed type or performance.
I also remember , Ch. Marie of Lomondview, a bitch we imported from Carol Annan. She was a stunning, cobby bitch that was another joy in the house and in the show ring. She loved cooked rabbit.
I currently work at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown, NY. where I develop programs to reduce unnecessary re-admissions. Prior to this position, I developed and directed a network call center.I am a designer by trade and I had my own interior design business with my former wife of nearly 20 years.I enjoy interior and fashion design. Currently, I live in upstate New York with my partner of nearly 15 years. He operatesa 100 plus herd dairy farm.
