The following links have excerpts from The Dog News, which was "The National Dog Magzine" for many decades. Excerpt Fall Issue 1971: "Alice Rosenthal, 1893 - 1971 Following an extended period of declining health, Alice Rosenthal, Editor and Publisher of Dog News, passed away on September 29, 1971. Mrs. Rosenthal started with Dog News in March, 1928, as advertising manager. She later assumed ownership and began to build a national reputation as the spokesman for the world of show dogs. In her over 40 years as an active participant and leader in the dog world, Alice attended many important shows, promoted and loved all breeds, and shared with her readers and many friends the enjoyment of breeding, handling, showing and winning. In these times of many changes, Alice Rosenthal gave us a constant upon which we could all rely -- dedication and love of her work, her magazine and our dogs. We shall miss her, but her ideas and achievments will never be missed, for they are with us in this magaizne, and in the efforts we all make toward a better world -- for dogs and their owners. She is survived by her daugher, Mrs. Ann Rosenthal Hunter, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren."
This is a work in progress.
